This four-week program provides instruction in Japanese language and culture. Students who have not studied Japanese as well as more advanced students of Japanese should consider applying. This program includes guided tours of historical sites and festivals, traditional performing arts excursions, cultural exchange activities with Japanese University students, weekend excursions, and intensive language and culture immersion in Japan.
Language courses are held in the morning, leaving the afternoons for discovering Japanese culture and life. You will earn six semester hours of credit in Japanese.
During the program, you will study the Japanese language at the Kyoto Center of Japanese Linguistic Studies and at the Kyoto Japanese Language School (a Public Interest Incorporated Foundation by Kyoto Prefecture) , which is located near the imperial palace in the center of Kyoto. Class sizes are limited to 13 students per class, with several levels (3 Elementary, 3 Intermediate, and 2-3 Advanced). Students will take a placement test for proper learning.
