A month-long interdisciplinary program in summer for which London is your textbook. Study with students from across campus, led by three Virginia Tech faculty members. The Globe, the Thames, the Queen, the World—let London be your “other” home! Study literature, theater, architecture, social issues and public discourse in one of the world's greatest--and most complex--capitals.
Bring a notebook, pencil, and camera. Consider democratic space. Sketch some of the most remarkable urban landscapes in the world with line, word, and lens.
Walk where Shakespeare walked. Attend performances of Shakespeare and contemporary playwrights at many of London's famous theaters. Meet playwrights, actors, and theatre personnel for unforgettable behind-the-scenes experiences of the city that changed drama forever.
Write where Dickens wrote. Workshop with British writers and poets. Return with a notebook of photographs, sketches, stories, poems, and rich memories.
In 2017, participants have the opportunity to apply for a London internship that will extend their stay by two weeks and provide an additional three hours of credit (at additional expense for three credits, accommodations, visa). Selection for internship is highly competitive. Placements are in all fields but lab science
